A new study by Rajapack looks at how long it takes for plastic straws and other single-use plastics to biodegrade. The results are shocking, but it’s also important to remember that we should be focusing on products composting NOT biodegrading. Biodegrading is the process of an object breaking down into smaller and smaller pieces – with plastics, this results in harmful micro-plastics. Micro-plastics cannot be seen by the naked eye but are extremely harmful to our environment.

Consumers are becoming more aware of the facts and are often opting out of single-use items in favour of reuseable and sustainable products. At Rootree, we are doing our part by working towards developing packaging that is truly fully compostable or recyclable. Keep an eye out on our website to learn about these exciting new developments!
