YES Crickets is an Ontario-based business that produces dry-roasted crickets — and one winner of our 2020 RT | Foundation Award. When founder and CEO, Joe, learned about the positive impact that eating insects can have on the environment, he envisioned a future with YES Crickets. While an unconventional snack in the western market, Joe sought to fill the gap with sustainable, healthy, and delicious crickets. The 2020 RT | Foundation Award provided YES Crickets with pouch design, pouch printing, a photo shoot, and a case study on our blog. Let’s take a hop through this one-of-a-kind creative project.
When YES Crickets won the RT | Foundation Award, they brought potential concept designs for their four flavour SKUs. The designs’ fun and colourful graphics (four unique cricket superheroes!) were perfectly suited to Rootree’s digital printing. Rootree’s graphic designers worked with YES Crickets to finalize its pouch designs for printing; the final product included metallic accents, vibrant colours, and crisp text. They were exactly as Joe had envisioned, and would look perfect in the hands of his customers.
