Today, the Climate Crisis is a well-acknowledged threat that people across the world have committed to improving. Over the past decade, as our planet’s environment has continued to deteriorate, the call for environmental sustainability from companies, leaders, and even individuals has increased tremendously.
Let’s take it back to 2015 when the idea for Maisha Tea was born. It all began when soon-to-be founder of Maisha Tea, Rachael Otukol, attended the African Innovation Foundation’s conference, Innovation Prize for Africa, in Morocco with her father. Upon leaving the conference, Rachael was inspired by the innovations of entrepreneurs.
2021 has been a year full of readjustment, hard work, and growth. Rootree has had a jam-packed year, and we’d love to recap it with you. In 2021, we returned to the office, grew our teams, adopted new partnerships and certifications, and encountered a lot of inspiring businesses – all while having a lot of fun along the way. As we near the end of 2021, we’ve taken some time to reflect on all that’s happened in these past 12 months.
As we enter the new year, we have one burning question in our minds: what are the emerging eco-friendly packaging trends in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry for 2022?

I am thrilled to share with you an exciting update regarding our compostable packaging.
Thanks to our diligent and dedicated team and partners who have spent several years performing research and development, we have developed a new lineup of compostable packaging that is greener, stronger, and better than ever.
We have heard the exploding demand for e-commerce-friendly compostable packaging, and we are thrilled to see the desire for such environmentally friendly options within our community of businesses; now, more than ever, is the time for us to be taking care of Mother Nature.
To say that Rootree is committed to sustainability would be an understatement; just as you wouldn’t say a tree is committed to producing oxygen - as it’s a force of nature, it just does it. In the same fashion, sustainability is deeply ingrained into Rootree’s DNA, and one doesn’t come without the other.
This is the beginning of an exciting chapter, and I look forward to sharing even more  offerings in the future. Thank you for joining us on this journey of sustainability and making this world a brighter, greener place.
