“That is my dream, I want to be the baddest and biggest bone broth company on the market.”
Beck’s Broth is cranking up the heat on bone broth, and the result? An iconic brand on course to make major waves in the CPG industry.
Beckie with the Good Broth
Meet the Founder and CEO of Beck’s Broth, Beckie Prime. If you asked Beckie a word that describes her best, she’d say Happy. “I honestly do feel like I’ve always been a girl that has the glass half full. I’ve always been optimistic, I’ve always just been super excited about friendship, family, meeting new people, and I just have this addiction to just being happy, and it takes so little to get me there.”
After working 8 years in marketing as a project manager, Beckie decided that she wanted to take a moment and evaluate how she wanted to move forward with her life. During the pandemic, she decided to enroll in the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and became a registered holistic nutritionist. Only a month later, she decided to start Beck’s Broth.
But how did Beck’s Broth come to be? A voice during meditation.
After working with clients as a registered holistic nutritionist, one of her challenges was how clients could consume bone broth, “I was recommending bone broth to all my clients and none of them were following their protocols…they had no idea to consume it…” She knew that they loved their chocolate and Starbucks drinks, but neither had the benefits of bone broth. Beckie was sitting in a meditation, focusing on how she wanted to spend her energy moving forward and the idea came to her.
She immediately went to the kitchen. Taking the bone broth on her stove, and some cacao and honey in her cupboards, Beckie whipped all her ingredients together in a mug, took a sip, and knew – “That’s my future, it felt so wholeheartedly, like that was going to take me somewhere really unique, and it has.”
Just getting started
The next 6 months were a whirlwind, Beckie was developing that perfect recipe, getting feedback, finding a commercial kitchen to use as her playground. That first commercial kitchen, in Guelph, ON, was where she “learned how to do it all from step one, figuring out how long to cook bone broth, which suppliers to work with, and trying to put all those puzzle pieces together.” That was when Beck’s Broth went from a voice in a meditation session to reality.

“It’s all about how you navigate your way through the hard days…”
While starting a new business you’re passionate about is both exciting and daunting, there’s always a handful of hard moments to get through.
“It was when we were doing our old format, and it was in the jars, and I just couldn’t get the recipe right for our cold brew coffee, and I felt like I just wanted to throw in the towel.”
Being covered in bone broth, Beckie felt like she was wasting ingredients, “it hurts so hard trying to be in this area of research and development and just having ingredients go down the drain.”
Beckie never gave up, and she tapped into her optimism and core beliefs, and kept going.
“I really felt because I knew that there was a huge alignment that I was experiencing, I knew it was all going to work out even though I was starting from scratch.”

Packing it in
“So, we knew we wanted to grow, especially in the retail world, but we couldn’t do that with our old packaging.”
Beckie made the switch to flexible packaging; her customers can throw it in their bags without having to worry about it. Rootree fit with her mission for sustainable packaging, and got to truly experience our mission, ‘Grow with us.’
